Where to Get the Perfect Steak in Seattle

Seattle, or Emerald City, as it was named because of the lush forests, is a unique city in Washington. The coffee culture in Seattle is strong, with a Starbucks on nearly every corner. Football fans and tourists alike come out to view the stadium, as well as the Space Needle and the world-famous Pike Place Market.

In addition to these popular attractions when traveling through Seattle, you can also get a juicy steak at a high-class steakhouse. All of the best cuts- the Tomahawk Ribeye, New York Strip, Filet Mignon, Wagyu beef, and more are at the restaurants on this list. I personally enjoy a steak that is well-marbled, especially the Wagyu. For those that like leaner cuts, we’ve got you covered.

JaK’s Grill has multiple locations in various states; the West Seattle location is near Junction Plaza Park. JaK’s is your neighborhood gathering spot with high-quality beef cuts and tasty sides. They serve lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. The interior design features classic and clean aesthetics, wooden booths, and comfy stools with a nice bar area.

The atmosphere at JaK’s Grill is very comfortable. The servers are personable, professional, and known to give suggestions on entrees and wine pairings. The soft classical music playing in the background on the piano is a nice touch that adds to the overall dining experience. 

Some of the most popular dishes are Jak’s New York Strip, Grilled Salmon, or the Bourbon Pork Chop.  All meats were tender and prepared exactly as I requested. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience at this establishment. 


El Gaucho

You can find El Gaucho in Belltown near the Union Stables. It’s an upscale steakhouse that’s dimly lit, and the servers wear tuxedos. They serve 28-day old dry-aged steaks. This elegantly decorated steakhouse also serves fresh seafood in a cozy and romantic environment fit for any special occasion. 

The food presentation at El Gaucho is just like their service- exceptional. The menus even come with small flashlights due to the low lighting that sets the mood for a beautiful evening. The charcoal grill in the open kitchen makes El Gaucho a one-of-a-kind eatery for Seattle steak. The robust and rich flavor of the Filet Mignon is second to none, and there was not one tough area of my Tomahawk Ribeye. 

You can’t go wrong with any dish served at El Gauchos. I highly recommend it!


Metropolitan Grill

The Metropolitan Grill is one of the best places to get a steak in Seattle. This classy steakhouse is in the historic Marion Building. The decor combines wood, velvet, and brass fixtures and accents with a marble bar that spans 60 feet. The atmosphere is business casual and inviting. 

The Met has gained popularity from their classic cuts such as New York Peppercorn Steak, the Delmonico, the Porterhouse, and of course, their Filet Mignon. They also specialize in martinis, with the Smokey Met being an award winner. Don’t hesitate to try the Met Long Bone Ribeye and French Onion Soup if you drop by the Metropolitan Grill to dine. 


John Howie Steak

John Howie Steak is inside The Shops at The Bravern, and they focus on bringing their guests excellent food and customer service day in and day out. They have premium and specialty cuts of steak, such as the Wagyu beef. John Howie’s also has an extensive wine list, with discounts during happy hour. 

The decor in John Howie Steak is refined and chic. You feel comfortable as soon as you enter the restaurant, which is always a plus. It’s fancy but not pretentious. The servers are courteous, and they’ll make recommendations if you’re not sure what to order. Though they’re known for delectable Seattle steaks, my favorite dishes were the Lobster Bisque, Seared Sea Scallops, and Deviled Eggs. 

Definitely check them out if you’re in the area.


Daniel’s Broiler

Daniel’s Broiler is in multiple locations, some of which serve brunch. This sophisticated establishment has a warm ambiance, and the food is top-tier. The steaks, seafood, sides, and even the desserts are superb. It’s hard to find a restaurant that does everything well. But Daniel’s Broiler delivers!

I was impressed by the attentive staff that made sure everyone not only understood the menu and the ingredients, but the servers seemed to take pride in consistent smiles and a great experience. The reviews mention Daniel’s Delmonico, Steakhouse Scampi, and Daniel’s Steak Sandwich as being the best dishes on the menu.

FlintCreek Cattle Co is near Greenwood Park, waiting to amaze guests in their stylish, lofty New American kitchen. They put an emphasis on serving grass-fed and consciously raised beef. FlintCreek also has an impressive cocktail selection. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed; you don’t feel rushed or out of place. It’s perfect for a date, a business meeting, or catching up with friends. 

The flavors at this restaurant are bold and inspired. The dishes themselves are rich and strong, but they’re well-balanced. The combination of textures, flavors, and presentations was nothing short of perfection for what you expect from a good steakhouse meal. I always go for the New York Strip or Filet Mignon when I visit FlintCreek Cattle Co in Seattle, and I’m never disappointed.

If an awesome steak is what you’re craving, then The Capital Grille, located near the Seattle Art Museum in the Cobb Building, is the destination to choose. This Upscale steakhouse chain provides classic American fare in a refined and elegant atmosphere. Stop by to enjoy fine dining and world-class wines at the Capital Grille.

With a friendly staff and expert prepared steaks, there’s nothing to want for while you’re dining at the Capital Grille. All steaks are dry-aged in-house for 18 to 24 days and then hand-cut by our restaurant’s on-premise butcher.

Here are some dishes that you should try when you stop by Capital Grille: Seared Tenderloin with Butter-Poached Lobster Tails, Bone-in Ribeye Steak, and Capital Grille Cheesecake. All of which are absolutely delicious.

The Butcher’s Table is in Denny’s Triangle near the corner of Westlake Ave., and Blanchard St. Stop by and see why it was nominated Seattle’s Best Steakhouse by Thrillist. This is a sleek steakhouse that has a takeaway butcher counter and even prepares prime Wagyu cuts. The decor is noticeably sophisticated and stylish and has the vibes of a high-end country club. 

Their hostesses are very attentive and are more than willing to enlighten you on the many different cuts of meat that they have. They serve excellent cocktails, and the dessert menu is great as well. Here are some delicious dishes you should try when you visit The Butcher’s Table: Filet Mignon, Smoked Bone Marrow, Macaroni and Cheese, and the mouthwatering Tomahawk Ribeye Steak.


Bateau

You can find Bateau, a fantastic steakhouse located in the Pike/Pine area near Seattle University. This steakhouse distinguishes itself by providing sustainable cuts of beef from a local farm. Furthermore, all of their beef is from carefully raised, grass-fed cows.

The atmosphere is just as impressive as the attention that they pay to their beef. The wine pairing is exceptional as well.  If you’re ever in the neighborhood, you must stop and try their NY Strips with Marrow Butter. It comes beautifully plated, and its flavor is deep and decadent. You should also try the Steak Tartare and the onion soup, all of which are equally good.


Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Ruth’s Chris Steak House is a fine establishment that you can find inside the Grand Hyatt Hotel near the Pike Place Market. They boast a family-friendly environment that’s beautifully and elegantly designed. It’s a good idea to enjoy one of their signature sizzling plates and their award-winning wine list, which happen to be the perfect pairing for any occasion.

At this restaurant, the service is exceptional, and the servers are eager to explain menu options to newcomers. While there, a friendly server suggested that I try the Cowboy Ribeyes, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and the Creme Brulee as my dinner combination. Divine; there are no other words!


Canlis

Canlis is not too far from Thomas C Wales Park. This is a landmark fine-dining destination housed in a mid-century-modern home with very refined decor. The atmosphere of this restaurant delights guests from all over the world thanks to their spectacular views of Lake Union, Seattle, and the Cascade mountain range.

The food is excellent, and the menu is designed so that you get a four-course meal. You get to choose which dishes you’d like to have for each course. I had the following: Canlis: Canlis Salad, Haiku Rice, Oxtail Ravioli, and the Souffle. The organization of the dishes was incredible. 


Red Cow

Red Cow is a classic French brasserie that features house-made charcuterie, a full bar, local seafood, and an awesome selection of steaks to choose from. You can find this gem in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood. Red Cow is an excellent candidate for a fine dining experience, and the decor is beautiful, which adds to the overall experience.

At Red Cow, the food is the star of the show, and that is made apparent by every delicious morsel offered up. On my stop, I had the juicy Bone-in Ribeye and the Pork Tenderloin, which were both out of this world. Our party also had a delicious wood fire pizza that I recommend to anybody thinking about paying a visit to Red Cow.


Joule

Joule is a Korean-fusion steakhouse located near the coast of Lake Union. Joule has a casual yet festive ambiance about it with communal seating and handmade wallpaper as a form of beautiful decor. This place even offered a brunch buffet with a plethora of options to choose from as well.

Joule does steak well, and one of their popular dishes is Wagyu Bavette Steak which was tender and delicious, and the flavor from the lemongrass pesto was excellent. Here are a few other dishes that I recommend you try on your first visit to Joule: The Miso Black Cod, Smoked Octopus, and the Short Rib Steak.


Final Thoughts

This list is perfect for steak lovers that want a top-notch steak in a fine dining establishment with all the works. These restaurants were all so amazing that it was hard to crown one as king, but I will say that the ambiance in each was unique, and it depends on why you’re dining that particular night. 

Some were so sophisticated that they would be best suited for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, and the like. Others were serving food that was so good that it felt like you should get dressed up just to eat there, but the vibes were surprisingly laid-back. Take your pick!
