Kayne Prime Steakhouse

1103 McGavock St, Nashville, TN 37203
Phone: 615-259-0050
Visit Website

Kayne Prime Steakhouse brings ambiance and city views to the classic American steakhouse. The mood of Kayne Prime is classy and elegant, with luxurious neutral decor. Look for the bustling Broadway Street and turn onto 12th Avenue South and you will be there in no time. Kayne specializes in sustainably sourced Wagyu beef. They also offer a daily selection menu that changes daily. A trip to Kayne Prime for me means pure indulgence – eating here is a multi-course experience. I love to start with the duck tacos, savor the scallops, and end my meal with milk chocolate creme brulee.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

2525 West End Ave Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37203

Nestled between Vanderbilt University and The Centennial Park World War I Monument sits Fleming’s, a traditional steakhouse and wine bar. Ideal for date night, Fleming’s provides a romantic vibe with white tablecloths and dim lighting. This steakhouse is inside of the Marriott at Vanderbilt. What I think makes Fleming’s special is their experiences and unique offerings. For example, there is Tomahawk Tuesday each week, and in Fall 2021, they have a Filets of Fall 3-course meal option. And, speaking of date night, do not miss their Uncorked Red Wine event, where you can sip on as many as four selected wines.

Bob’s Steak & Chop House

250 Rep. John Lewis Way S, Nashville, TN 37203
Phone: 615-761-3707
Visit Website

Next to the Country Music Hall of Fame and inside the Omni hotel is Bob’s – a masculine steakhouse originally from Texas. Plaid booths and rich deep wood decorate the restaurant floor, while vintage microphones and radios call back to their neighbor to the left. Known for their spectacular service and staff, Bob’s is a must-try in Nashville. Bob’s is vocal about their portion sizes – do not come here unless you are ready to feast! Their steaks and sides are Texas-sized. The best item on the menu is the prime filet mignon. They always cook it perfectly, and the potato accompaniments complement the meat flawlessly.

Sperry’s Restaurant

Multiple locations
Visit Website

Sperry’s has two locations, one in Nashville and the other in nearby Franklin. Their Nashville location is about a 20-minute drive from downtown with traffic. The iconic Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery is a six-minute walk away – perfect for browsing before you sit down for a filling meal in a tavern setting. This steakhouse has one of the more classic menus on this list, with plenty of surf & turf options. You cannot go wrong with the filet of beef and bacon-wrapped scallops or the steak fries. However, their house specialty is lobster mac and cheese, and that is my top pick from Sperry’s for sure.

The Southern Steak & Oyster

150 3rd Ave S #110, Nashville, TN 37201
Phone: 615-724-1762
Visit Website

No visit to the Music City is complete without Southern comfort food. With homey, rustic decor and a relaxed feel, The Southern Steak & Oyster delivers Southern charm. Located inside the Pinnacle at Symphony Place, it is a terrific option before heading to a Nashville Symphony performance. As a Southerner, I am picky about my Southern food – you can tell when it is not authentic. And, fortunately, Southern Steak is one of the best steakhouses in Nashville, with some of the most delicious meat I’ve had. From their fish and grits to their deviled eggs, their menu is comfort food at its finest. Another tasty option is the dry-aged New York Strip or the Belle filet mignon.

Old Hickory Steakhouse

2800 Opryland Dr, Nashville, TN 37214
Phone: 615-889-1000
Website

Located inside of the opulent Marriott Gaylord Hotel, Old Hickory steakhouse is a sight to behold. Within the glass-enclosed hotel is an Antebellum-era mansion decorated with posh Southern decor. That mansion is home to Old Hickory! The mood of the steakhouse is casual, so do not worry about bringing your tie. Start your meal off with Wagyu tartare or caramelized pork belly, and from there, take your pick of top-quality meats and seafood. Their Cowboy Ribeye is legendary, along with their Porterhouse. I never leave Old Hickory without having a specialty cocktail – the Fresh Bloom is super refreshing.

The Palm

140 5th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37201
Phone: 615-742-7256
Visit Website

Dine on the world-famous Broadway street at The Palm! If you want to be in the center of it all, The Palm is the steakhouse for you. Settled within walking distance of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and the Johnny Cash Museum, you can explore so much of what Nashville has to offer before dinner. Decorated with caricatures and cartoons, The Palm is a lighthearted approach to the traditional steakhouse. All of the meats at The Palm are aged for a minimum of 35 days and come from corn-fed livestock. They also have tons of seafood options, like Sicilian Tuna Poke and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. I always get the gnocchi bolognese, which is on the Italian portion of their menu.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Phone: 615-320-0163

One of the most famous steakhouse chains, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, sizzles even more in Nashville. You may even see a country music star while you eat, as several have been spotted there in the past. Ruth’s Chris is inside of the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel and directly across from the Vanderbilt campus. Be sure to check out the Caymus Vineyards Tastemaker Dinner, a multi-course meal with perfectly paired wines to bring out the flavors in each dish. Everyday offerings include Chilean Sea Bass that is life-changing, a Tomahawk cut for two, and specialty cocktails like the pomegranate martini.

Morton’s The Steakhouse

618 Church St, Nashville, TN 37219
Phone: 615-259-4558
Visit Website

Across from Church Street Park is Morton’s, another steakhouse chain known for its luxurious interiors and art-deco stylings. Every inch of the restaurant drips lavishness from the chandeliers to the table settings. I recommend checking out a show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center after your meal. Also, note that Morton’s has a dress code – hats and athletic clothing are prohibited. Morton’s had me as soon as I tried their Maine Lobster Ravioli, and since then, it has been an ongoing love affair. They offer different cuts of steak, all which are melt-in-your-mouth tender, and their drinks are just strong enough. If you are feeling extra indulgent, try the filet mignon with the bleu cheese butter!

Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse

300 4th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37219
Phone: 615-434-4300
Visit Website

After a romantic walk in the nearby Nashville Public Square Park, mosey over to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, a swanky spot with old Hollywood vibes. Decked out in pink neon lights and dangling chandeliers, you will feel like you are dining amongst the stars. One of Jeff Ruby’s staples is their seafood tower, a platter piled high with lobster, king crab, tiger shrimp, mussels, clams, and oysters. It is a must-have. Jeff Ruby’s also serves top-tier meats, such as blackened ribeye and A5 Wagyu. Finish your meal with a decadent slice of cheesecake or a glass of dessert wine.

The Standard

167 Rosa L Parks Blvd, Nashville, TN 37203
Phone: 615-254-1277
Visit Website

As the only Antebellum townhouse still standing in Nashville, The Standard is in a league of its own. Located inside of The Smith House, this steakhouse is my absolute favorite in Nashville. With old but-classy decor and a sensual vintage vibe, The Standard makes every patron feel like they are in the lap of luxury. The Standard serves food that is exceptional but not pretentious, with Southern roots showing through each selection. The crab bisque with creme fraiche and Lowcountry shrimp and grits are my top picks, in addition to their Jack Daniel’s cheesecake. As far as meats go, The Standard serves traditional cuts like filet mignon and boneless ribeyes.

Oak Steakhouse Nashville

801 Clark Pl, Nashville, TN 37203
Phone: 615-902-3111
Visit Website

Just before the traffic circle on 87th Street is The Westin Nashville, home to Oak Steakhouse. Oak is a Southern chain that yields rustic wood furnishings and a red meat-heavy menu. With high ceilings and an industrial aesthetic, Oak Steakhouse is the best kind of understated. The vibe is relatively laid back but slightly more refined than casual. If you are strictly searching for steak, Oak Steakhouse has you covered. They serve traditional steakhouse favorites, like filet mignon and tomahawks, but Oak Steakhouse also has a specialty menu with flatiron Wagyu beef and dry-aged bone-in ribeye. Do not forget the white cheddar mac and cheese for the table!

Bourbon Steak

201 8th Ave S 34th floor, Nashville, TN 37203
Phone: 629-208-8440
Visit Website

Bourbon Steak is inside the JW Marriott Nashville, a high-end hotel near the Country Music Hall of Fame. If you want the best views in the city, Bourbon Steak has them and then some. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the walls, and chic metallic decor reflects the fine quality fare Bourbon provides. Be aware that they have a strict dress code of business attire. Their menu is vast and ranges from chilled seafood to black Angus steaks. However, the most famous offering on the menu is the Maine Lobster Pot Pie, a heaping serving of creamy lobster and flaky pie crust. It is one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted!

Deacon’s New South

401 Church St, Nashville, TN 37219
Phone: 615-994-1994
Visit Website

Another Southern food staple in the Music City, Deacon’s New South, serves Tennessee classics in warm and welcoming environs. With light brown leather booths kitchen views, coming to Deacon’s feels like coming home. Deacon’s has no shortage of natural light, either – windows line the tables at the L&C Tower for an airy feel. I would honestly eat here just for the fried green tomatoes, but their Nashville Hot Chicken is a cannot-miss pick as well. Paired with sommelier-selected wines and crafted cocktails, Deacon’s gives Southern cuisine new life. They specialize in dry-aged steaks add-ons such as a sauce flight or lobster.

Jimmy Kelly’s Steakhouse

217 Louise Ave, Nashville, TN 37203
Phone: 615-329-4349
Visit Website

Back in Midtown sits Jimmy Kelly’s Steakhouse, a legendary Nashville haunt since 1934. Paintings line the dimly lit walls for a romantic, antique feel within an old Victorian house. The atmosphere is intimate and private, despite the restaurant residing in tight quarters. Jimmy Kelly’s prides itself on hand-cutting their steaks each day for ultimate freshness. I love their famous bleu cheese filet – it is wrapped in bacon and stuffed with bleu cheese. It does not get much better than that! Make sure you try their key lime pie, too. It is a Southern classic.
