But, do not think The Big Pineapple is your run-of-the-mill city when it comes to steakhouses. They have some of the most renowned steak places in the world.

Yes, you read that right! Ruth’s Chris is one of the most well-known steakhouse chains worldwide, and their Honolulu location is no different. From sizzling steaks served at 500-degrees to craft cocktails, Ruth’s Chris provides aloha spirit in abundance.

Their Honolulu location boasts a similar menu to its counterparts, with signature plates such as stuffed chicken breasts and lobster mac & cheese. My personal favorite is the Garlic Crusted Sea Bass – it is so rich and buttery that it outshines their steak dishes! 

This Ruth’s Chris is in the Waterfront Plaza, a towering building with local shops and restaurants. Find it between South Street and Ala Moana Boulevard.

Feast in luxury at Morton’s in Honolulu. Placed among designer fashion stores and elite patrons, Morton’s will take you back to the days of art deco. 

With its simple, neutral decor and smart casual dress code, this is no ordinary restaurant. Chefs meld local cuisine with traditional steakhouse fare to create a menu that goes above and beyond. 

Start with Wagyu meatballs, then enjoy everything from a mouthwatering Tomahawk steak to truffle fries. Finish your meal with a perfectly portioned creme brulee. Look out for their promotions and events as well, like five-course meal celebrations or National Seafood Month menu additions.

Take a romantic stroll on the beach after your meal at the nearby Ala Moana Regional Park – a perfect ending to date night.

If you want to try a steakhouse you cannot find anywhere else, Hy’s is for you. For over forty years, they have provided guests with high-end dining experiences you only find in Hawaii. They trim and age their steaks onsite for peak flavor and grill their steaks on flavorful Kiawe wood.

What I love about Hy’s is that they cook everything tableside. My favorite dish is the Surf & Turf – I cannot resist a filet mignon, and the lobster complements the Kiawe-grilled steak flawlessly. I am also a fan of their library-like decor. 

Despite the level of quality, Hy’s is surprisingly laid back with its dress code. Men need to wear a collared shirt, and no swimwear is allowed. Make sure you clean up well after a day at the nearby Kuhio Beach!

Locally sourced meat and Asian-inspired fare make DK Steakhouse a staple in Honolulu. If you are adventurous with your food and want to try something new in The Big Pineapple, DK should be at the top of your list. 

Their menu is one of the most extensive in Honolulu, from a full sushi bar to delectable steaks. Take a journey around the world with hand-rolled sashimi and the locally-loved Calamari salad. DK even has an option for steak connoisseurs – their prime dry-aged ribeye.

DK Steakhouse is inside the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and has take-out and dine-in options.

Another legendary steakhouse chain, Wolfgang’s, is for those searching for a classic steakhouse. With locations in Japan, Korea, and Singapore, Wolfgang’s provides a traditional steakhouse vibe and global inspirations.

Wolfgang’s is known for its porterhouse steaks, which come in sizes small enough for two or big enough for up to four. If you have picky eaters in your midst, this is the place to go. They offer approachable classics like hamburgers but also have prime rib selections. I always go for the lamb chops – they are super tender! 

I recommend heading to dinner here after a day of shopping. You will find it among the throes of Valentino and Fendi, on the right side of Kalakaua Avenue.


The Signature Prime Steak & Seafood

The Signature is my favorite steakhouse in Hawaii. From the 360-degree views to the champagne offerings, a night at The Signature is a night to remember. If you are looking for an opulent date night, this is the place to be. 

The Signature offers a next-level dining ambiance with nightly live piano and sparkling chandeliers. Enjoy the seafood tower (complete with a live Maine lobster) as you sip on craft cocktails. I cannot recommend the prime filet mignon enough – it is life-changing. End your meal with Fuji Apple Pie or Island Sorbet. 

If you want to splurge, they also have an exclusive tasting menu.

This restaurant is inside the Ala Moana Mantra Hotel, on the 36th floor, down the street from the Hawaii Convention Center.


BLT Steak Waikiki

If you want a more relaxed setting, BLT Steak Waikiki is ideal. It has a laid-back bistro atmosphere with modern steakhouse menu options.

What makes BLT unique is its pairing offerings. They have a prime rib and wine pairing, roasted salmon and side with wine pairing, and an Omaha prime ribeye available on Mondays only. They have traditional steakhouse fares like seafood towers and filets, but you cannot go wrong with a meal pairing. 

BLT Steak is in the Trump International Hotel and a short walk from the Hawaii Army Museum and Waikiki Beach. You will find it nestled between Beach Walk and Saratoga.

Variety and global flavors are what make Stripsteak a Honolulu must-try. Celebrity Chef Michael Mina sought out to take the classic American steakhouse and blend it with Asian flavors for a bright and diverse menu. 

Stripsteak offers a top-notch tasting menu. If you look over the selections and cannot decide, the tasting menu is your best bet. I love the Crab Rangoon dip and the crispy Shrimp Tempura!

This steakhouse mixes the tropical cuisine of Honolulu with constantly changing seasonal offerings for an unforgettable meal. It is inside the legendary International Marketplace, so you cannot miss it – look for the Phillip Rickard store. 


Aloha Steakhouse

I love this place for a quick lunch bite or a special dinner after a day at the beach. Aloha labels itself as a casual steakhouse, so don’t worry about bringing your tie! With simple, inviting decor and the feel of a beach house, Aloha is a steakhouse for all. 

Along with affordability, this steakhouse also has a ton of specials. Every day from 4-6, you can get 20% off all side dishes and 10% off drinks! Be sure to try their tomahawk steak, too, which comes with a free side. Aloha makes their steak sauce in-house from locally grown sweet onions, so definitely add that to your order.

Blazin Steaks

Do not judge a book by its cover. If street food is your thing, you have to try Blazin Steaks. Tucked away in the University district, this family-owned restaurant serves up fresh and affordable seafood and steaks. I recommend the steak and eggs – the fried egg on top adds a surprising amount of flavor.

Blazin Steaks is a local haunt, so much so that they don’t even have a website. Better yet, you can walk into Blazin Steaks in your post-beach look and get a quality meal to enjoy wherever you like. No dress codes in sight!

If you are in the mood for sightseeing, check out the Japanese Culture museum that is just a two-minute walk away.

The Yummy Hawaii Restaurant Group recently opened the Steak & Fish Co., a quick-service cafe offering prime steaks and fresh seafood. Minimalists will love it, as they have a short and to-the-point menu with no frills. 

Classics like scallops and shrimp are a delectable option, as are the ribeye steak and New York steak. I frequent this restaurant for lunch since it is quick and convenient, but they also serve dinner. Each dish comes with mashed potatoes, corn, and veggies, so you’ll never leave hungry. 

Like a few other places on this list, Steak & Fish Co. resides on Ala Moana Boulevard, a mainstay for shopping and dining.

Are you hungry yet? Honolulu is not just a tourist trap – it is evolving rapidly into a foodie-town, with the backdrop of the serene ocean and palm trees. I cannot think of anything better than enjoying a meal at a Honolulu steakhouse before walking on the beach.
