Phoenix Seafood Restaurants To Try This Week

Where to get the freshest seafood and shellfish in the area.

The capital of Arizona is known for its year-round sunny days, warm temperatures, and beautiful desert scenery surrounding this metropolitan area. With 1.6 million people living in Phoenix, the city is bustling with business and culture. Furthermore, it’s a great destination for travelers.

There’s the Desert Botanical Garden, where you can see the best of the local flora and fauna up close. You can rest and play at the local resorts, including golf courses designed by the infamous golfer Jack Nicklaus. There is a thriving nightlife scene, where you can get out and meet new people and dance the night away.

With so much to do and great weather just about 365 days a year, it’s no wonder that Phoenix has an impressive food scene. The heart of the southwest might be an unexpected place to find world-class seafood, but prepare to be pleasantly surprised. I’ve outlined the top spots where you’ll find outstanding seafood in Phoenix below.

Buck & Rider is a major crowd-pleaser located in Uptown along the bustling Camelback Road. They’ve got a gorgeous outside patio and bar where you can enjoy your meal in that fantastic temperate weather that Phoenix is known for.

The raw bar is next-level, and customers will happily discover how thoughtful the staff will share the day’s recommendations.

Service, presentation, and quality all shine at this establishment. They update their seafood offerings twice daily and pick up fresh seafood delivered from the Gulf, east, and west coasts daily at the Sky Harbor Airport.

When it comes time to order, I recommend starting with the oysters on the half shell and finishing with the fish of the day with the lemon caper beurre blanc.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Nestled against Cave Creek Park is the North Mountain Village location of the popular Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. While some patrons may shy away from dining at a chain restaurant, I recommend Pappadeaux because they’re renowned nationwide for quality.

If you’re planning a celebratory afternoon or a full day of family fun, check out the Castles N’ Coasters amusement park just down the street before making your way to Pappadeaux’s for your dinner reservations.

There, you’ll enjoy the best of cajun seafood cuisine. Start your meal with the crispy alligator, split a crawfish etouffee with your date, and enjoy a salmon alexander for your main course.

Bluewater Grill

1525 E Bethany Home Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85014

Bluewater Grill is an old favorite in Uptown. With a recent relocation to a new building, you’ll get to enjoy all the classic dishes that patrons have enjoyed for years in a renovated and modern setting.

It’s a beloved chain with locations across California as well, and the success of this family of restaurants is easy to understand when you taste the food.

Start your meal off with a hearty clam chowder for yourself and the jalapeño artichoke dip for the table. They’ve got a great sushi menu, so enjoy a roll or two before indulging in the main course. I recommend their signature taco plate, with your choice of blackened fish or shrimp on either flour or corn tortillas.

The seafood will come topped with shredded cheese and cabbage, fresh pico de gallo, a tangy lime crema sauce, and avocado slices.

Ocean Prime

5455 E High St #115, Phoenix, AZ 85054
Phone: 480-347-1313
Visit Website

Ocean Prime in Desert Ridge is just a few minutes from the Cave Buttes Recreation Area. It’s a higher-end steakhouse and seafood restaurant with a creative new American menu by restaurateur Cameron Mitchell.

The white tablecloths clue you in as soon as you arrive–you’re in for a classy dining event when you sit down at Ocean Prime.

You can’t go wrong with anything on this menu. The scallops are buttery and cooked to perfection. The halibut in a lobster-red wine reduction is tangy and savory.

If you have land-meat eaters in tow, don’t fret–they will drool over the steak filets. Finally, don’t forget to save room for dessert. I highly recommend the butter cake.

Roy’s Restaurant

5350 E Marriott Dr, Phoenix, AZ 85054
Phone: 480-419-7697
Visit Website

Roy’s Restaurant at the JW Marriott resort in Desert Ridge brings the taste of Hawaii to the heart of Arizona.

Locals say that the culinary pioneer Roy Yamaguchi was the first to create Hawaiian-French fusion cuisine at the first Roy’s Restaurant, located in Hawaii back in the late 80s. This place is the real deal.

Start the evening with the lobster potstickers, served in a spicy togarashi miso butter sauce. Your mouth will be watering from the first bite. From there, I recommend the roasted macadamia nut-crusted Mahi Mahi, drizzled in lobster cream sauce.

Or, try the shellfish sampler, with

grilled Maine lobster tail, seared scallops, teppanyaki shrimp, and potatoes, all in a blue crab basil cream. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with upside-down pineapple cake.

San Carlos Bay Seafood Restaurant

1901 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85006
Phone: 602-340-0892

Located just north of the junction where interstate 10 and highway 51 intersect, you’ll find San Carlos Bay Seafood Restaurant.

If you’re making a date night out of your dining plans, pair the meal with an excursion at the nearby Heard Museum or Phoenix Art Museum. This Mexican-style seafood place is going to have your mouth watering, so come hungry, and remember to bring cash because this restaurant takes cash only.

Try the oysters on the half shell, served with avocado and tangy sauce. Then, enjoy the camarones albiñal, a dozen shrimp cooked in a creamy jalapeno cheese sauce flavored with garlic, onion, and celery and served with authentic Spanish rice.

Mariscos Playa Hermosa

1605 E Garfield St, Phoenix, AZ 85006
Phone: 602-462-1563
Visit Website

This restaurant has been a thriving local establishment for twenty years. For any business to thrive that long, they must be doing something right–and at Mariscos Playa Hermosa, we’re sure of it.

Located in Garfield not far from Arizona State University’s downtown campus, this is a great spot to grab dinner with your friends.

The flavors here are rich, the ingredients are fresh and colorful, and the menu is bold and playful. They have dishes in the style of both Northern and Southern Mexico. I recommend the guacamole trio and the sizzling fajitas with shrimp.

Taylor’s Chowder House

3538 W Calavar Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85053
Phone: 602-978-1815

Taylor’s Chowder House staff is exemplary, a rare treat to find at a restaurant these days. They are friendly and helpful and will ensure you have a delightful dining experience from beginning to finish.

Located near Arizona State University’s West Campus, students will appreciate the generous portions served here.

Next time you’re in, you’ve got to taste the tangy shrimp cocktail. From there, of course, you’ve got to try the restaurant’s claim to fame: the clam chowder.

It’s stuffed with big pieces of clam and served at a bargain rate. And if you like fried seafood, their fried platter is going to blow your socks off.

When you’ve got a big group to feed or finicky family members who like their meal just-so, you can’t go wrong with the classic dishes at Red Lobster. Sure to please even the pickiest eater, there’s something for everyone here. There are multiple locations across town as well, including right next to the Desert Sky Mall, so you can find one that’s convenient for you.

Red Lobster always has specials on promotion, so be sure to ask your wait staff what’s in season and what deals they have going on.

You might find their signature feasts like the seaside shrimp trio or the harborside lobster and shrimp for just $20 a plate. You can also collect rewards using their app, so be sure to download that before you order!

Angry Crab and BBQ

If you’re craving seafood and barbeque, Angry Crab is the answer. This family of restaurants also has several locations across town, including near Los Olivos Park, so you don’t have to go all the way to the other side of the city to get a taste of something great.

This restaurant offers a very family-friendly and casual atmosphere, perfect for birthdays and celebrations.

If you’ve never tried a seafood boil, this is the place to give it a try. You’ll make your selection of seafood and seasonings, including lemon, cajun, garlic, and more, and make note of the heat level you want.

They’ll bring it out in a big ol’ bag, so everything inside is steamed and coated in the juicy, delicious flavors you’ve selected. Don’t worry–they’ll bring a bib and wipes, too.

Sinaloa Restaurant

2601 E Bell Rd A, Phoenix, AZ 85032
Phone: 602-953-0430

True to the southwestern flavors of the region, this Mexican seafood restaurant boasts bold flavors and a great atmosphere.

Located near Lookout Mountain Preserve, it’s a great location to combine your plans with an outdoor excursion, so you can arrive feeling hungry. They bring chips and salsa to the table, so you’ll have time to munch while you decide what to order.

They have outstanding micheladas to drink, and the chipotle sauce on every table is good on just about anything you’ll order. I recommend the ceviche tostadas. My favorite is the one served with shrimp and octopus.

Final Thoughts

Next time you’re craving seafood, don’t start planning a trip out of town. You don’t have to be near the coast to have a great seafood dining experience.

I hope this list has inspired you to go out and get some seafood. However, if you’re in the mood for something different, try one of the best Indian restaurants in Phoenix.
