I became obsessed with finding the best oasis to take in the city’s incredible culture and abundant sunshine on a recent trip.

While I did indulge in some incredible cocktails, I never did find the best one, but I did find more than a few of the best rooftop bars with a view of New Orleans that are worth noting.

My trip began at The Alto, a bar that should be on everyone’s bucket list. The Alto is located on top of the iconic Ace Hotel and is a short walk from the French Quarter.

Located at 600 Carondelet Street, few bars can match The Alto’s classic charm. Each room features an armoire painted by an artist from the south.

With a poolside bar and rooftop garden, I sipped my Paloma and enjoyed one of the best margarita pizzas I’ve ever tasted. If you’re looking for a classic vacation and some true luxury, this is the bar to visit.

Deep in the French Quarter, I found a rooftop bar that blew me away. Mambo’s, located at 411 Bourbon Street, drew me in with its drinks and atmosphere, but I stayed for the food.

This bar is very highly rated and boasts a cozy, informal atmosphere. It’s the only rooftop bar on Bourbon Street, and it’s the only one needed.

During my visit, I tried some incredible cuisine, including their famous oysters and one of their signature po boys. To wash everything down, I tried the Mambo Tini.

As far as the best rooftop bars go, my favorite view had to be the one at Hot Tin. Located in the Lower Garden District on top of the Pontchartrain Hotel, the balcony of the Hot Tin had the best view of downtown.

This eclectic but chic bar offers a high-class feel with a funny twist. The cocktails are incredible, and in keeping with the high-class attitude, I decided to stick with Chardonnay while admiring what was undoubtedly my favorite view of the entire trip.

My next stop was Rosie’s on the Roof. Located at 1000 Magazine Street, Rosie’s had more to offer than drinks.

Right across the road, I was able to check out the World War II Museum. The Higgins Hotel also has a lot of regalia to showcase.

I highly recommend the local beer battered fried eggplant if you can stop by. The cocktails are excellent, and while I didn’t try a signature drink during my stay, my Mojito was mixed to perfection.

At 550 Baronne Street, located just up the road from the Barrone Bistro, I found myself at The Pool Club New Orleans.

This bar is one of a kind for its resort-style, and spa-day feel. It’s worth noting that guests will get priority access to the pool on weekdays; otherwise, it’s first come, first served, but that shouldn’t deter you from enjoying the rest of the bar. It’s a rejuvenating experience.
