Chef Hugo Ortega prepares quality Mexican seafood dishes in an upscale, airy setting for anyone interested in enjoying the neighborhood’s finest flavors.

After starting with their signature Ceviche De Caracol, consider ordering their Carne Asada Con Mole Negro, Pescado Zarandeado, Mariscos Al Ajillo, or Callo De Hacha with a side of Papas Martajadas or Tamal Azteca. They also offer a standard brunch every Saturday and a fixed-price brunch buffet with live music every Sunday.

Next up on my list of the top restaurants in Uptown Houston is La Table, a modern, multi-level French eatery near the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria Hotel. Chef Artem Orlovskyy offers tasty French dishes that will make any night in the Uptown area unforgettable. Their outdoor patio offers a lovely view of their garden, giving the space a serene vibe.

I love starting with their Octopus Basquaise and sampling their Texas Wagyu Burger, Red Snapper, Entrecôte de Boeuf, or Lobster and Shrimp Risotto. They also offer a wide selection of wine and cocktails, so be sure to try their Periwinkle Sour or Smoked Old Fashioned cocktail.

I recommend stopping by their raw bar for their fresh oysters. Then, consider trying their Shrimp & Andouille Paella, Duck Confit Pappardelle, Free-Range Bison Ribeye, or Australian Rack of Lamb. They taste best with Saffron Lobster Grits or Caramelized Asian Mushrooms.

If you’re in the mood for dessert, try their Cheesecake Mousse or Sticky Toffee Pudding.

During my last few visits to Uptown Houston, I started with their Sweet & Sour Meatballs. Then, I had their Nova On A Sunday Bagel Sandwich, Reubenesque Hot Dog, Prime Hungarian Beef Goulash, and Chicken Astoria with a side of mashed potatoes or sweet potato fries.

They also offer an all-day breakfast and hand-crafted coffee.

Are you in the mood for signature Houston-style steaks? Then, consider booking your next reservation at Steak 48, located in the River Oaks District Mall. This upscale restaurant offers seafood, steakhouse entrees, and shellfish bursting with flavor for anyone interested in an immersive fine dining experience.

In my opinion, their best dishes are Twin Lobster Tails, 45-Day Dry-Aged Bone-In Ribeye, Prime Steakhouse Meatloaf, and Bone-In Veal Chop. I like them served with a side of whipped potatoes or asparagus fries and a Blackberry Mint or Mango Habanero specialty cocktail.

Don’t miss out on their Cookies & Cream Popcorn Sundae or S’more in a Jar for dessert.

Another one of the best upscale restaurants in Uptown Houston is Bloom & Bee, found inside The Post Oak Hotel. This restaurant has a chic vibe, floral decor, and seasonal dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all to enjoy. They also have an outdoor patio for enjoying Houston’s warmest days.

Whenever I stop by for a bite to eat, I usually order their Triple Egg Omelet or Steak and Eggs for breakfast, Sweet Corn Tortellini for lunch, and Roasted Filet Mignon or Sous Vide Grilled Octopus for dinner.

Be sure to look through their seasonal wine list to enhance your meal with unique flavor profiles.

Their Falafel Platter and Red Pepper Dip are the best appetizers you should start with. Additionally, if you book a dinner reservation, ask your server for their Sole Amandine or Selle D’Agneau Rôti with a side of Pommes Frites. They also host brunch every Sunday.


North Italia

If you’re treating your friends to dinner, start with their shareable White Truffle Garlic Bread. Don’t miss out on their Spicy Meatball Pizza, Squid Ink Mafaldine, Chicken Parmesan, or Grilled Branzino paired with a Grapefruit Martini. In addition, they half-price wine bottles all day every Monday.

Don’t forget to pair your lunch or dinner with a refreshing Peppermint Herbal Tea or Passion Fruit Lemonade. After a long week, consider treating yourself to their vegan, gluten-free Squash Pie.

Last but not least on my rundown of the best restaurants in Uptown Houston is The Annie, nestled in the heart of the Galleria area. This bustling, swanky yet sophisticated eatery serves American-Southwestern cuisine crafted by Executive Chef Robert Del Grande. 

Enjoy tasty dishes in a space decorated with artwork and palm trees. They also have several private dining areas for any celebration.

My favorite dishes are their Denver Sole, Wagyu Skirt Steak, Prime Bone-In Ribeye, and Mushroom Rigatoni. Don’t forget to try them with a side of baby carrots or cheddar grits and Meet Me on the East Side cocktail.
