Echo Park Restaurants You Should Be Dining At This Week

Echo Park is a lesser-known gem hidden in Los Angeles with a lot to offer. Most people visit this part of Los Angeles to see a Dodgers game at the Dodger Stadium, but there are some really gorgeous hiking opportunities and scenic vistas in the area like Angels Point. What you might not know about Echo Park, however, is that the restaurant scene is incredible if you know where to go.

If you don’t know where to go, then you might be in luck because I think I can help with that. I’ve compiled all of my absolute favorite places to eat near Echo Park onto one handy guide, ranking all of them for your convenience.

Masa of Echo Park Bakery & Cafe

1800 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-989-1558
Visit Website

Taking the number-one spot on my list is Masa of Echo Park Bakery & Cafe. This place is located off of Sunset Boulevard next to The Echo and Echoplex live music venues, so if you’re in the area for a show, you may want to stop here for pizza before it starts.

I love grabbing pizza from this place whenever I’m in Echo Park and you’ll understand why very quickly once you’ve eaten here. If you’re looking for somewhere to grab a traditional Chicago-style, deep-dish pizza, then this is it. It really doesn’t get better than pizza from Masa.

Honey Hi

1620 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-221-7810
Visit Website

Honey Hi is up next and there is no other place like this in Echo Park, if you ask me. This restaurant is a delightful little counter-serve spot also off of Sunset Boulevard that everyone needs to try. The seasonal menu here at Honey Hi keeps things interesting and always has me coming back to see what’s new.

What I recommend from Honey Hi is something from their all-day breakfast menu like breakfast bowl or some shakshuka. Of course, the lunch menu here is also filled with delicious foods that you’re going to love.

Cosa Buona

2100 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-908-5211
Visit Website

Next up is Cosa Buona, an amazing Italian restaurant that I try to visit as often as I can here in Los Angeles. When you want classic, wood-fired Italian-inspired pizza, this is the place to go to.

What I love about Cosa Buona is that if you don’t want pizza for whatever reason, you can also get an absolutely mouth-watering sandwich, and don’t even get me started on the desserts. I usually go for a pepperoni or a Margherita pizza when I come to Cosa Buona. When I’m in the mood for a sandwich, however, I opt for the chicken parm or the meatball parm most of the time.

Trencher

1305 Portia St, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 323-604-9621
Visit Website

Trencher is the next Echo Park restaurant I want to point your attention towards and you’ll immediately see why, I think. This restaurant is more of a sandwich shop and it’s also one of my favorite lunch spots for lunch when I’m in town. They serve some very unique foods here like a jalapeno slaw that you just have to try for yourself.

My favorite sandwich to order from Trencher is their banh mi, hands down. If I were to pick a second place sandwich, though, it would be either the BBQ brisket or the pulled pork.

Tsubaki

1356 Allison Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-900-4900
Visit Website

Right at the point where Allison Avenue meets Sunset boulevard is an authentic Japanese restaurant called Tsubaki, right across the street from the Super 8 by Wyndham Los Angeles Downtown hotel. Tsubaki is a low-key Japanese spot that you cannot leave town without trying. They have some of the most incredible Japanese cuisine I’ve ever tasted. Eating here is like taking a trip to Japan without ever leaving Echo Park.

I recommend trying the dry-aged striped bass shio-yaki. No matter what you eat here, be sure to try some of the many sake varieties they offer.

Konbi

1463 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Visit Website

Up next is Konbi. This is another phenomenal Japanese restaurant that you should visit in Echo Park. What I love about this place is that it’s small and charming with a wonderful bar where I like to sit and watch the chefs while I eat.

Katsu is easily my favorite thing on the menu here at Konbi. They have an absolutely delicious chicken katsu sandwich that I always have a hard time resisting when I pay them a visit. Some other great choices from here are the pastries. The chocolate and butter croissants are my favorites, by far.

Larchmont Bungalow Cafe

2110 Sunset Blvd suite n, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-908-5301
Visit Website

Larchmont Bungalow Cafe is the next restaurant on my list and I really think you’re going to like this one when you go here. This place is great for lunch and dinner, but I love their all-day breakfast the most. I highly recommend one of their delectable eggs Benedict dishes like the smoked salmon Benedict or the steak Benedict. Don’t forget a specialty latte or a fresh fruit smoothie to go along with whatever you order.

Check out Larchmont Bungalow Cafe over off of Sunset Boulevard and North Alvarado Street, right across from CrossFit Echo Park.

Thunderbolt

1263 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-372-5099
Visit Website

This next place I want to mention, Thunderbolt, is located over on West Temple Street next to the Knights Inn Los Angeles hotel and the Hollywood Freeway.

This place is more of a cocktail bar actually, but they serve up some seriously tasty eats as well. Not only can you grab a craft cocktail that’s made by an experienced bartender, but you can get some delicious treats like a fried chicken biscuit or some 18-hour smoked brisket that comes with collard greens, cauliflower-potato mash, and an amazing mushroom gravy to top it all off. Be sure to give it a try!

Grá

1524 Pizarro St, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 123-456-7890
Visit Website

Grá is up next and this place simply never disappoints. This Italian restaurant is a must-visit when you’re in town and you’re craving some delectable Italian cuisine. The pizza is what really shines here at Grá because of the wild-fermented dough that they’ve absolutely perfected. Grá also features a wide assortment of high-quality wines to pair with your meal for the ultimate Italian dining experience.

Check out Grá off of Pizarro Street, just north of the Echo Park Indoor Pool and the Echo Park Community Center, so it’s fairly easy to find the next time you’re going out.

Guisados

1261 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-250-7600
Visit Website

Next up is a place called Guisados and you really do not want to miss this one while you’re in town. Guisados is a Mexican restaurant that serves up some of the finest Mexican cuisine in the city. Everything is homemade here at Guisados, right down to the tortillas themselves. This restaurant spares no effort to bring Echo Park some of the most delicious tacos and tamales ever.

Definitely keep a lookout for Guisados over off of Sunset Boulevard next to Everett Park, just west of the famous Dodgers Stadium, so be sure to stop by after a baseball game.

Valerie Echo Park

1665 Echo Park Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-250-9365
Visit Website

If you’re hiking the nearby Elysian Park Trail to get up to Angels Point for a scenic view of the city, then you may want to consider fueling up before or after your hike at Valerie Echo Park. Valerie Echo Park is a bakery that also serves up some fantastic lunch foods, as well as teas and pastries if that better suits your fancy.

I usually come here for breakfast before a nice, long hike. My favorite food from here is the Moroccan chicken hand pie or the curried chicken salad sandwich, but there’s plenty more to choose from.

Patra Burgers On Sunset

1524 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-250-0301
Visit Website

Patra Burgers is up next and if you’re looking for the best burger in Echo Park, then this is it. No one does burgers quite like Patra, in my opinion, and I think you’ll feel the same way. Patra Burgers On Sunset is not just a burger shop, however. This place is a fantastic destination for breakfast foods, lunch foods, and even things to eat for dinner.

They’re open from 8 AM to 8 PM so you can pretty much stop by whenever you’re hungry and grab something delicious. Of course, I recommend a cheeseburger, but the menu is huge so there’s plenty of other choices.

Tacos Ariza’s

Corner of Sunset Blvd and, Logan St, Los Angeles, CA 90026

This next place is actually a food truck, so if you’re someone who loves food trucks, you seriously need to stop by Tacos Ariza’s and treat yourself to something tasty, and that includes just about everything on their menu. Tacos are the name of the game here, of course, but they also have some really delicious plates of authentic Mexican food that I think you’re going to love.

What I usually do when I come to Tacos Ariza’s is order a few steak tacos, a few chicken tacos, and at least one lengua taco for good measure.

The Douglas

1400 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-947-3180
Visit Website

The Douglas is up next and if you’ve never been here before, then you are in for a real treat. The Douglas is primarily a bar, but they serve up some of my favorite bar food in the whole city. If you’re looking for a late-night watering hole with good eats, this is your place.

I love the burgers here at The Douglas because I think they go well with beer, but some other great choices are their fried chicken sandwich and, surprisingly, their vegan falafel. Definitely come down to The Douglas for a chill place to relax and eat.

The Semi-Tropic

1412 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-568-3827
Visit Website

Up next is a place called The Semi-Tropic and this place is unlike any other hangout in the city. It’s definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The Semi-Tropic is a bar that serves a food menu inspired by various European cuisines along with a vast selection of craft beers. Seriously, what’s not to love?

When I come to The Semi-Tropic, I always get myself a cold beer to start with while I peruse the menu, but if beer isn’t your thing, you’ll probably want to take a look at their craft cocktail menu. As for food, my favorite thing to order is the grilled Italian sandwich. It’s an absolute classic and never disappoints.

Sage Plant Based Bistro & Brewery

1700 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-989-1718
Visit Website

The next restaurant I want to talk about is called Sage Plant Based Bistro and Brewery. If you’re following a vegan or vegetarian diet, or even if you just enjoy the cuisine, this is where you need to come for a fun breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Check out Sage Plant Based Bistro & Bakery off of Sunset Boulevard inside Jensen’s Recreation Center, right near Lassens Natural Food and Vitamins. When you get here, I suggest going for either a tostada or a wrap, but the menu is anything but limited, so take your time and read it over or you might miss something tasty.

Taix French Restaurant

1911 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Phone: 213-484-1265
Visit Website

Last, but not least, we arrive at Taix French Restaurant. This place is well-known and well-loved all around town, and for very good reason.

Since 1927, Taix French Restaurant has been faithfully serving the community some of the highest-quality French cuisine available. Having been around that long, you know they’re doing something right.

What I recommend from Taix is a tureen of French onion soup to start with, and the resplendent coq au vin to bring it home. Check out Taix French inside Silverlake Flea flea market off of Sunset Boulevard and Resevoir Street.
