Right on the tip of New Jersey’s peninsula, Cape May is a great city filled with shops, restaurants, and Victorian era houses. Whether you’re visiting for a few days or live in the town, you’re bound to get hungry at some point. When it comes to trying new food, I know it can be a little difficult to find the perfect spot. That’s why I’ve put together a list of my favorite places to eat so you can know what to expect at each restaurant.

Peter Shields Inn & Restaurant offers a three course meal, with plenty of options for each course. We recommend the yellowfin tuna tartare, orecchiette, or PSI surf and turf. Be sure to check out the desert menu with options like spiced creme brulee and toffee pudding!

Washington Inn’s menu is pretty modest, but full of decadent dishes. Try out the rack of New Zealand lamb, Washington Inn crab cakes, the vegan, or grilled Meyers Ranch flatiron steak. Make sure to sip on a glass of wine with your meal!

Housed in similar setting to the last spot on our list, Aleathea’s Restaurant is a fantastic place to grab food in Cape May. Serving American cuisine in a Victorian inn, you’ll feel sophisticated and classy in this spot. With a waterfront and an elegant interior, it’s perfect for a celebration.

Aleathea’s Restaurant serves an amazing menu with plenty to enjoy. We recommend the shrimp scampi, seafood linguini, tacos, or cheesesteak. Be sure to grab a drink from the bar to go with your meal!

Another seafood-centered restaurant you have to try in town is The Lobster House. With nearly 7,000 reviews on Google, it’s obvious this spot is incredibly popular. With dockside seating, you’ll be able to take in the atmosphere at this restaurant.

Though they primarily serve seafood dishes, The Lobster House has a few other selections if fish isn’t really your thing. Be sure to try the baked stuffed shrimp, crabmeat au gratin, chicken francaise, or filet mignon!
