Over the past two decades, Williamsburg has transformed from a blue-collar, factory working neighborhood composed of European and Caribbean immigrants to a young, hip neighborhood full of restaurants, clubs, and art galleries.
Today, Williamsburg’s exceptional nightlife has earned it international recognition, with Europeans calling it the “little Berlin.” Young professionals and tourists looking for an epic night out flock to Williamsburg to party till dawn. After a night of dancing, drinking, and enjoying everything the city that never sleeps has to offer, you’ll need a lazy morning and a hearty meal to recuperate.
Luckily, there are plenty of excellent brunch spots in Williamsburg to eat well and commune with friends and family. During my recent trip to Williamsburg, I got to wander throughout this eclectic, artsy, and lively neighborhood in search of the best brunch in Williamsburg, and my findings did not disappoint.

Located one block from the beautiful Marsha P. Johnson State Park, Café Mogador began in the East Village in 1983 and has since become a neighborhood favorite in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Owner and chef Rivka and her family are Moroccan and have brought the delicious dishes and flavors of their native country to Café Mogador.
Café Mogador is first and foremost a café with an excellent selection of coffees and coffee liqueurs for those who prefer a boozy brunch. While breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all excellent at Café Mogador, weekend brunch best showcases the breadth of Moroccan cuisine.
I recommend the Moroccan Benedict with spicy stewed tomato and pepper sauce, poached eggs, over an English muffin smothered in hollandaise sauce and served with leafy greens and roasted potatoes.
135 N 5th St, Brooklyn, NY 11249
Located in the heart of Williamsburg, around 5 blocks from the enormous McCarren Park, Juliette is a French Bistro in a stunning indoor space with a large rooftop terrace. The restaurant is as artsy as Williamsburg is with antique Parisian art, furniture, and lighting with comfortable intimate seating, and the rooftop terrace has a cocktail bar with lush green plants surrounding the entire terrace.
You can get brunch 7 days a week at Juliette, with upscale and beautifully presented savory dishes including toasts, salads, burgers, and eggs benedict. They have one sweet offering, which is the banana stuffed French toast with caramelized bananas, crème Fraiche, candied walnuts, and bourbon maple syrup. I obviously went for it!

Located directly under the iconic Williamsburg Bridge, Diner’s appearance is as classic as New York diners get as it’s inside an old Pullman car with all the old wood finishing and enamel perfectly conserved. However, Diner’s food is anything but classic. With over twenty years as a Williamsburg staple, Diner is also committed to serving upscale meals using locally sourced, seasonal products.
Diner has a rather upscale menu with new takes on multicultural classic breakfast dishes, plus a full wine list and brunch cocktail menu. I recommend the Croque Monsieur with ham, white cheddar, mustard, and rosemary.
355 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Located right off the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway in Williamsburg’s Northside, St. Anselm is a small steakhouse, wine, and cocktail bar in a cozy industrial-chic space with a repurposed wood bar, ceilings, and light fixtures fashioned from old rusty buzz saws. Their meat-centric menu revolves around their grill that is visible from their open kitchen that is one with the wine bar.
Brunch is served on the weekends and features their delicious cuts of perfectly cut meat and seafood. St. Anselm’s award-winning steaks got them voted one of the best steakhouses in NYC, so I would opt for a steak-centered brunch, namely their ultra-decadent steak and eggs over charred fingerling potatoes.
544 Union Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Reunion is an Israeli restaurant in the Northside of Williamsburg two blocks from McCarren Park, specializing in Mediterranean favorites from Tel Aviv. The hip and trendy interior with seemingly random antique fixtures like old radios, bird cages, fans, and squash rackets make for a quirky yet trendy setting that is fitting of Williamsburg and Tel Aviv.
You can get brunch all day every day at Reunion from a vast menu of spicy and savory dishes, spreads, and dips. I love their Jerusalem bagels which are much larger, thinner, and oval-shaped boiled bread rounds covered in sesame seeds. Their Jerusalem Breakfast is delicious if you want to sample various dips, a bagel, and eggs. That said, their Shakshuka was voted best Shakshuka by New York Magazine, and is served with tahini and challah.
352 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249
The Rabbithole Restaurant is a New American bistro, bakery, and café located a couple of blocks from Domino Park and the Williamsburg Bridge. True to its name, the Rabbithole’s space appears to be a small bustling café, but once inside, you’ll notice a large back dining room and a charming outdoor garden that will surely enchant you enough to spend your lazy morning lavishing over a tasty brunch.
Their full espresso bar serves delicious coffee and elaborate Italian espresso drinks that you can pair with a house-made pastry like a blueberry scone with lemon icing. I loved their egg sandwich with spicy fig jam, bacon, extra sharp cheddar, and pickled jalapeno on a buttermilk biscuit.

Located one block from McCarren Park. Allswell is a quaint New American fusion restaurant and bar inside an old tavern that looks like it has been transported out of a Swiss Alps village. They have a cocktail bar and eclectic selection of German and European beers as well as local brews.
Their small brunch menu is a mix of continental breakfasts and southwestern tex-mex favorites like breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros. I went for the breakfast burrito with chipotle beans, spiced potatoes, egg, cheese, salsa, and crema.
164 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Founded and run by Brooklyn natives, Sweet Chick is a new American comfort food restaurant serving luxurious and decadent southern comfort favorites in a hip and fun bar atmosphere. Their original Williamsburg location is right in between McCarren Park and Bushwick Park along the lively Bedford Avenue and has since expanded to include four other locations in New York and Los Angeles.
Sweet Chick specializes in chicken and biscuits and chicken and waffles. They also offer other deep south favorites like shrimp and grits. If you want a sweet waffle variation, they serve incredible Blueberry Muffin Waffles with cinnamon, muffin crumb, sugared blueberries, and a lemon glaze.
Sunday in Brooklyn
348 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249
With a name like Sunday in Brooklyn, it’s impossible not to stop in for brunch, which you can get on Sunday and every other day of the week. Located a few blocks from the riverfront and Domino Park, Sunday in Brooklyn is a delightful neighborhood bar and restaurant with a beautiful interior featuring an exposed beam ceiling, terracotta tiled floor, and a wooden bar that looks like the raw inside of a petrified tree.
Their brunch offerings are a mixture of regional favorites from around the U.S., plus a few innovative dishes of their own, like the Don Ruben Omelette with mole, goat cheese, and maitake, and oyster mushrooms. Their show-stopping pancakes are the biggest and fluffiest you’ll see and come smothered in maple butter with a hazelnut praline topping.
70 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY 11249
Located a block from the Grand Ferry Park, Aurora is a family-friendly Italian eatery inside an awesome old building covered in blooming green vines. The rustic-chic interior has hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and large arched country windows that look out onto a charming green patio.
All their authentic cheeses and cured meats come directly from Italy which you can sample as a brunch appetizer in a breakfast pizza Bianca with prosciutto di parma, burrata cheese, and rosemary. I liked their Italian egg scramble with Brioche Panino, goat cheese, cured salmon, and avocado.

Located a few blocks from the Williamsburg Bridge on the south side of Williamsburg, Marlow & Sons is a cute wine bar and café serving high-end New American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, not to mention a natural wine shop. The simple, no-frills breakfast and lunch offerings are perfectly executed and beautifully presented.
The small and simple breakfast and lunch menu feature basic American classics like egg sandwiches and grilled whitefish toasts with leafy green side salads. On a warm sunny day, an iced matcha latte with a fried egg sandwich on a poppyseed Kaiser roll from Marlow & Sons hit the spot.
Pies ‘n’ Thighs
166 S 4th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Located right under the Williamsburg Bridge, Pies ‘n’ Thighs is the humble creation of two former Diner chefs, Sarah Sanneh and Carolyn Bane who converted a small beer closet locale into an acclaimed comfort food counter, serving some of the best donuts, fried chicken, and smoked pork in town.
With awards and accolades from New York, the New York Times, New York Daily News, Food & Wine, and Bon Appetit, you can expect great things from Pies ‘n’ Thighs, no matter what you order. I loved their fried chicken and waffles with two pieces of fried chicken and two buckwheat waffles topped with cinnamon butter and baked apples.

Located on the southside of Williamsburg, in the shadow of the Williamsburg bridge, Meadowsweet is a true farm-to-table eatery, specializing in New American cuisine. Owner and chef duo Polo and Stephanie Dobkin use the produce from their upstate New York farm to make all their colorful dishes.
Meadowsweet’s Michelin Star winning menu includes a wide variety of contemporary takes on multicultural breakfast and lunch dishes. I recommend the patatas bravas, chorizo and sunny eggs with poblano pepper, red onion, and pimento aioli with local mesclun. Another delicious savory and sweet option is the black mission, tiger fig, and ricotta toast on raisin-walnut rye with pancetta and anise hyssop honey.
79 Berry St, Brooklyn, NY 11249
Located catty-corner from both Allswell and Café Mogador in Northside Williamsburg, Café Colette is a New American neighborhood restaurant, specializing in Latin flavors from Spain, Italy, and the Americas. They use locally sourced produce, dairy, and meat from organic, hormone-free farms to elaborate their creative menus.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily, and you can get brunch on the weekends. The brunch menu has shareable plates and rich main dishes. I recommend the quiche Lorraine with potatoes, onion, parmesan, gruyere, and nutmeg. Their lunch-y brunch offerings include some exceedingly tasty mahi-mahi tacos.
50 Withers St, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Located in West Williamsburg along the busy Brooklyn Queens Expressway, Llama Inn is a Peruvian restaurant, serving upscale Peruvian cuisine in a beautifully designed industrial-chic dining space with a mishmash of colorful light fixtures, wrap-around windows, and concrete floors. Llama Inn features Peruvian dishes with a modern twist along with delicious Peruvian pisco cocktails.
The brunch cocktails are as interesting as the rest of the menu. I tried the I’m Kind of a Fig Deal pisco cocktail with black mission fig, pisco, sherry, apple brandy, sour apple, ginger, and lime. As for a Peruvian brunch to the nines, I recommend starting with the black bass ceviche, followed by the traditional Peruvian tamal filled with aji Amarillo and olives and topped with a fried egg and salsa Criolla.

Located in East Williamsburg, Lighthouse is a wine bar and restaurant committed to farm-to-table, market-driven cuisine that encompasses flavors and dishes from around the world. Their selection of natural wines, craft beers, and artisanal cocktails make for a great happy hour or boozy brunch. Lighthouse’s light and airy space bestow a casual and comforting atmosphere rooted in the surrounding community.
The brunch menu has a wealth of shareables, so I recommend going with a group to sample all the delicious Mediterranean mezze, raw oysters, and ceviche. Even their mains are shareable. I recommend the grilled chicken shawarma for two with spicy cabbage, tahini, and pita.

Meaning home in Arabic, Dar525 is a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Bistro that strives to make all guests feel at home in their comfortable environment with a warm reception and authentic Mediterranean comfort food. With a location in East Williamsburg and the neighboring Brooklyn neighborhood of Greenpoint, Dar525 offers a weekend brunch with the option to make it a bottomless boozy brunch.
Bottomless brunches include an entrée and all-you-can-drink brunch cocktails including mimosas, bellinis, bloody marys, and craft beers. I recommend their delicious falafel platter with the lightest, fluffiest falafels served with house salad, rice, hummus, babaganouj, pickles, turnips, and fresh pita.
Williamsburg is not just a hotspot for nightlife, art, and everything hipster, but it is also an imminent culinary destination in Brooklyn and New York City. Drawing from its diverse cultural roots and its newly gentrified trendy scene, brunch spots in Williamsburg offer an eclectic and delicious dining experience.
