10 SoHo Brunch Spots to Check Out

Soho is one of New York City’s poshest districts, famous for its art, fashion, and plenty of shopping.

It’s easily one of the most elegant places to wander in the city and a fantastic destination to get one-of-a-kind art and souvenirs.

Interestingly, Soho wasn’t always the flashpoint of fashion and chic living that it is today.

In the 1960s, it was a bit of an industrial wasteland until notable artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Bowie, and Andy Warhol took over the warehouse spaces and turned them into studios.

Today, you can take a full or half-day walking tour of Soho to learn all about its past and importance in New York City history.

There are also plenty of museums for young and old alike, including the Children’s Museum of the Arts, where youngsters can develop a taste and appreciation for visual arts.

Soho is also very close to Broadway, so these ten best brunch spots in Soho are great places to visit before you catch a Broadway show.

If you’re anywhere near Lt. Petrosino Square and craving some great brunch, why not check out Jack’s Wife Freda.

This Mediterranean hotspot is a Soho legend that draws huge crowds on the weekend.

It’s great for vegetarians, but meat lovers will undoubtedly find something on the menu as well. The food here is fresh, flavorful, and authentic.

One of my favorites is Maya’s breakfast bowl with avocado dressing. It’s just spicy enough without being overpowering.

The poached eggs and halloumi are great too. If you’re interested in having a boozy brunch, try their Bloody Marys, prepared to your exact specifications.

Sadelle’s is just a few blocks away from the Museum of Interesting Things and is a great place to kick off your Sunday with freshly-made bagels and piping hot blueberry pancakes.

With an on-site bakery, Sadelle’s has some of the best-baked goods in town, and you can taste the quality in every single bite.

If you’re looking for more traditional brunch fare, Sadelle’s has you covered there too.

I love their eggs benedict with smoked salmon. Pair it with a spicy Bloody Mary, and you have a meal to remember.

Their croissants are flaky, buttery, and come in pretty big portions.

Try their waffles and warm berries served alongside a generous portion of bacon if you want something more substantial.

I like the French fare at Balthazar too, specifically their tartines, which come with plenty of maple syrup, jam, and Nutella.

You also can’t go wrong with their signature cocktails or more standard brunch fare like mimosas. Balthazar tends to get pretty busy on the weekends, so make sure that you make reservations in advance.

12 Chairs Cafe by William F. Passannante Ballfield is a cozy cafe that strikes the right balance between comfort and style.

You’ll instantly feel right at home the second that you walk through the doors. It’s a great place in Soho to get Middle Eastern food like flavorful hummus and shakshuka.

Shakshuka is a hearty, traditional breakfast made of eggs, tomatoes, and spices. It tastes fantastic with fresh bread.

I also like their Greek omelet, salads, and fresh pita bread. Grab one of their fresh mimosas to wash it all down. 12 Chairs Cafe does tend to get pretty busy on the weekends, but it’s totally worth the wait.

Just a few blocks away from the Soho Grand Hotel, you’ll find Laduree, a prestigious breakfast and brunch spot that elevates traditional fare like eggs benedict and avocado toast.

As you might imagine, their French-style entrees are delicious too. Pick up some macarons to take home with you too.

My favorite has got to be the French onion soup. It’s really superb at Laduree.

The French toast is excellent, too, with just the right amount of raspberries on it, and if you want something on the lighter side, the vegan omelet is terrific.

Grab one of their cappuccinos or lattes to really round out your brunch.

Cafe Select is another gem near Lt. Petrosino Square, where you can get simply delicious food at reasonable prices.

I like to eat there if I’m looking for relatively healthy fare like granola made in-house or eggs and rosti.

Service is quick and friendly, and the staff can make dietary adjustments as need be.

Cafe Select serves up some of the best coffee in New York City, too, and is a good place for people watching or getting a little bit of work done.

Aurora Soho is just a few blocks away from the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art and serves incredible Italian food and a fantastic brunch.

I like everything on their menu, but the squid ink pasta is exceptional. It’s perfectly seasoned, not overpowering, and goes perfectly with one of their signature cocktails.

This restaurant has a great take on chicken and waffles. They replace your standard chicken with duck and pair it with an expertly cooked sunny side egg and some mustard-spiked maple syrup.

Their smoked trout benedict is another winner and a fun take on an old classic.

Boqueria is close to Spring Street park and serves both traditional Spanish food and brunch favorites.

Their service is outstanding, friendly, and quick. Although I love their vegetarian paella, the real stars of the show at Boqueria are their brunch dishes.

Try their signature French toast with citrus honey or the Spanish omelet with potatoes, salad, and bread with tomatoes.

Their chorizo is excellent too, served with potatoes, green salsa, and fried eggs. So if you’re looking for a new spin on traditional brunch but still want to get your fix of breakfast potatoes and eggs, Boqueria is a great option.

This restaurant is comfortable and sophisticated, with an accommodating and gracious staff that handles even the busiest times with ease.

Their lemon ricotta pancakes are a house favorite and pair perfectly with their gourmet coffee.

If you want something lighter, try their arugula salad. It’s fresh and flavorful. I’m personally a fan of the brisket tacos.

The meat is expertly seasoned and slow-cooked. You can really taste the artistry of NoMo SoHo’s head chefs in every bite.

Personally, I’m a fan of the Yemenite flatbread and fattoush salad. I like to combine them for a light and healthy meal.

Their Moroccan mint tea is definitely on point, but if you’re in the mood for something boozier you can always go with their Moroccan Mary, a fun twist on your standard Bloody Mary.
