Salt Lake City Brewery Guide: Where to Drink Craft Beer Around the City

Our favorite spots to enjoy craft beer in the city.

I’m a massive fan of the craft scene across the United States.

I love how many breweries are popping up across the US. The craft beer produced at these breweries differs from commercially produced beer.

I was recently visiting Salt Lake City, and I was surprised to discover that there is a bustling craft beer scene.

I made it my mission to see all the breweries in the city and identify the best breweries in Salt Lake City.

Many pints later, this is the result.

I hope you enjoy this list of the best breweries in Salt Lake City.


Uinta Brewing Co

Uinta Brewing Co is in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

It is on the corner of 1700s and Fremont Drive just west of the Glendale Golf Course and a mile north of Decker Lake Park.

Uinta Brewing Co is a nationally known brewery serving some incredible beers.

The beers taste even better straight from the brewery.

I thought the Hop Nosh IPA was the standout, personally.

It was a perfect brew!

In addition to great beer, Uinta Brewing Co also has outstanding food.

The kitchen has some of the best burgers and nachos I’ve ever had. I’m particularly impressed with the quality of the toppings on the nachos.


Bohemian Brewery

Bohemian Brewery is in a unique brewery in Midvale, UT, several miles south of Salt Lake City.

As the name suggests, Bohemian Brewery brews eclectic beers that defy the norm.

Some of the beers on tap may surprise you, and I recommend you try a flight of beers so you can sample them all.

The 1842 Czech Pilsner Lager was my favorite.

In addition to beer, Bohemian Brewery has some outstanding European food.

I enjoyed the bratwurst and pierogies.

The European fare pairs well with the exceptional beer.

Plus, the portions are large, so come here hungry.


Epic Brewing Company

Epic Brewing Company is in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, on State Street between 800S and 900S.

It is west of Liberty Park and a few blocks south of the Leonardo museum.

Epic Brewing Company is one of the most popular breweries in Salt Lake City.

The brewery is known for its IPAs, and I can confirm that the IPAs are outstanding.

Escape to Colorado IPA would be my recommendation. I also enjoyed the stout and porter.

The taproom at Epic Brewing Company is large and open.

It’s the perfect place to enjoy a beer with friends.

The brewery also has a patio where you can enjoy the fresh air and people-watch.


Fisher Brewing Company

Fisher Brewing Company is in the Ballpark neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

It is a couple of blocks west of the international Peace gardens and south of Pioneer Park between 800S and 900S.

Fisher Brewing Company is one of the oldest breweries in Salt Lake City.

The brewery was founded in 1884 and has been family-owned and operated ever since.

The brewery is best known for its lagers.

They tasted brilliant in my experience. If you only intend to try one, make it the Fisher Beer.

It’s a clean and crisp German Pilsner.

Several food trucks are parked near the brewery, so you never know what food options are available.

The rotating food trucks add a sense of excitement to visiting Fisher Brewing Company.


Squatters Pubs and Craft Beers

Squatters Pubs and Craft Beers is a staple in Salt Lake City.

It became so popular that they opened a branch in the airport so you could grab one last beer before you went back home.

Squatters has several locations in Salt Lake City, each with its unique vibe. I recommend checking out the location on Main Street between 200S and 300S.

Its downtown has a beautiful patio for people-watching. Squatters is known for its outstanding beer, and it does not disappoint.

The pub serves a wide variety of beers, so you’re sure to find one you like.

I loved the Hop Rising, personally. It was smooth, dry, and had a nice, malty kick!

I also appreciate that they have a good selection of non-alcoholic beverages for those who are driving or don’t drink alcohol.


Bewilder Brewing Co

Bewilder Brewing Co is just outside of downtown Salt Lake City, just east of the Gateway mall and a few blocks north of Trolley Square.

Bewilder Brewing Co is a small-batch brewery that specializes in sour beers. T

he taproom is small and intimate, and the staff is passionate about beer.

I sampled a few of the excellent sour beers.

I also enjoyed the pilsner and hefeweizen.


Grid City Beer Works

Grid City Beer Works is in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

It is on 2100S between 1000E and 1100E, and it is just west of Sugar House Park and a few blocks south of Westminster College.

Grid City Beer Works is a family-friendly brewery with a large patio.

The brewery has a great beer selection, and I particularly enjoyed the pilsner and Kolsch.

The staff was also amicable and knowledgeable.

The brewery is in a residential area, so it’s the perfect place to stop for a beer after a long walk in the park.


Hopkins Brewing Company

You can find Hopkins Brewing Company in the Highland Park neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

You will find it on 2100S between 1100E and 1200E between Liberty Park and the Utah State Fairpark.

Hopkins Brewing Company is a small brewery with a big heart.

The staff is passionate about beer and brewing, which shows in their product quality.

I sampled several of the beers, and they were all excellent.

I particularly enjoyed the IPA and the stout. The Old Merchant Cream Ale is also a must-try!

The kitchen is excellent as well. I enjoyed the fried pickles and the carne asada.


Kiitos Brewing

Kiitos Brewing is in the warehouse district of Salt Lake City.

You can find it on 700S between 500W and 600W.

Kiitos Brewing is a family-friendly brewery with a great selection of beer.

I sampled several beers and particularly enjoyed the lager and the IPA.

The food is also outstanding. I enjoyed the pretzel bites and the chicken sandwich.

This brewery is fun to visit because they have fun arcade games in addition to their food and beer.


Level Crossing Brewing Co.

Level Crossing Brewing Co. is in South Salt Lake.

It is just west of the train station and near the Nibley Park Golf Course.

Level Crossing Brewing Co. brews an incredible pale ale that I keep thinking about.

It’s called Sinday Pale Ale, and it was perfect!

Additionally, they have a wood-fired pizza oven that makes some of the best pizza in Salt Lake City.

Pale ales and pizza is a winning combination.


Proper Brewing Co.

Proper Brewing Co. is in the Ballpark neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

It is just north of the ballpark and a few blocks west of Liberty Park.

Proper Brewing Co. is a great place to watch the game or grab a bite to eat. The brewery has a great beer selection, and I enjoyed the IPA.

The food is also outstanding. I enjoyed the wings and the burger.

This brewery is fun to visit because they have a great atmosphere and pool tables to keep the fun going.


SaltFire Brewing Co.

SaltFire Brewing Co. is in the Liberty Wells neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

You will find it on W Temple Street between 2100S and 2200S.

SaltFire Brewing Co. has an excellent selection of beers, but it is limited.

Salt Fire puts quality ahead of quantity. Their Kolsch was my favorite beer, and I enjoyed sipping it on their decadent patio.


Templin Family Brewing

The Ballpark neighborhood has the densest concentration of breweries in Salt Lake City.

Like many of the other breweries on this list, you can find Templin Family Brewing, just north of the ballpark and a few blocks east of Liberty Park.

Templin Family Brewing is a great place to relax with a beer after a long day.

I sampled several of their beers and enjoyed the lager, the stout, and the IPA.

I’d recommend the Bavarian Dunkel Lager. It was a treat!

The patio area is also a great place to hang out.

In the evenings, they have fire pits, allowing you to enjoy the outdoor seating well into the fall.


Final Thoughts

These are some of the best breweries in Salt Lake City.

Each brewery has its unique atmosphere, offering a great selection of beer and food.

I hope you have the opportunity to visit them all, and try some of the incredible beers I recommended.
