You can find several restaurants throughout the city offering a wide selection of breakfast options, from classic dishes to ones with a Tex-Mex twist.
However, it might feel overwhelming to try and scour the entire city and eat at every single one of them if you’re spending a short time in San Antonio.
Luckily, I compiled a list of the best breakfast restaurants in San Antonio to help you simplify your search and try the best food the city offers if you’re in the mood for something in the morning.

The first entry on my list of the best breakfast restaurants in San Antonio is The Magnolia Pancake Haus. You can find it on Huebner Road and Embassy Oaks. It has a casual and bustling vibe that encourages patrons to start their day most energetically. Executive Chef Mike Alvarez serves the best pancakes in town and other breakfast favorites.
The Magnolia Pancake Haus has one of the most diverse menu options I’ve ever seen in any restaurant. I recommend ordering their Bananas Foster Pancakes, Cakes and Eggs, Eggs Fitzgerald, or Jambalaya Omelet.
Don’t forget to try their fresh citrus compote or strawberries to get some fruit into your system for a delightful flavor burst.
La Panadería

Up next on my compilation of the best breakfast restaurants in San Antonio is La Panadería, found on Fiesta Texas Drive, East Houston Street, and Broadway.
This cozy specialty bakery serves handmade bread and pan dulce, using several international bread-making techniques. If you’re looking for something light and quick to eat, this restaurant is your best option.
My favorite breakfast options they offer are their Scrambled El Favorito, El Mexicano, Chorizo & Egg Torta, and Ham & Cheese Croissant. I usually order an iced latte or Mexican hot chocolate to perk myself up. Order their S’more Cookie or Baby Chocolate Mousse Cake if you crave something sweet afterward.

You can find Bakery Lorraine on Pearl Parkway, Louis Pasteur Drive, La Cantera Parkway, and Broadway Street. This casual eatery serves a wide selection of breakfast sandwiches and pastries for locals and tourists to enjoy. Unlike some breakfast restaurants in San Antonio, they have all-day regular and kids’ menus.
In my opinion, you should order their Quiche Lorraine Breakfast, Fall French Toast, Croque Madame, or Turkish Eggs with a glass of grapefruit juice or a cold brew coffee. Be sure to treat yourself to their signature macarons, available in a wide variety of flavors, like strawberry, caramel apple, or champagne.

Overlooking the San Antonio River on East Guenther Street stands The Guenther House, a homey and refined breakfast restaurant with nostalgic vibes. Some of the appealing features of this eatery are its Art Nouveau interior design and outdoor riverside view. I enjoy coming here for a quick bite before going to any of the city’s nearby museums.
I recommend trying their Southern Sweet Cream Waffle Platter, Buttermilk Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, Breakfast Tacos, or Pioneer Pancake Platter. Don’t know what to get to quench your thirst? Then, try their gourmet hot chocolate, iced tea, or fresh-squeezed lemonade. Don’t forget to ask your server about their handcrafted pastry of the day.

Pancake Joe’s is another hidden gem many locals appreciate for a classic American breakfast with locations on Donaldson Avenue and Ingram Road. It’s family-owned and operated, has a casual and friendly ambiance, opens at 7 AM, and serves breakfast fare with a Hispanic twist.
During my last few visits to Pancake Joe’s, I ordered their Triple Berry and Banana Pancakes, Santa Fe Frittata, Cowboy Breakfast, and Crispy Bacon Waffle.
Don’t forget to pair any of these dishes with an excellent, cold apple juice or chocolate milk. They also have a kids’ menu and offer lunch later in the day if you’re short on time.
Snooze, an A.M. Eatery

You can find Snooze, an A.M. Eatery on East Basse Road, Huebner Road, and North Loop 1604 West. It has a vibrant, retro vibe, perfect for giving your morning a tasty jumpstart.
They also offer patio dining options for those who prefer enjoying the fresh air of Texas with their meal. In my opinion, their best dishes are Spuds Deluxe, Shrimp & Grits, Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, and Juan’s Breakfast Tacos.
Stop by their cafe for a refreshing Brewmosa or Irish Cream Latte to make your breakfast a bit more exciting. If you’re extra hungry, add a side of fresh fruit or hash browns to your plate.

If you’re interested in dining in an elegant and romantic atmosphere, consider this eatery one of your top options. They also offer outdoor dining with a breathtaking view of the San Antonio River. Consider trying their San Antonio Breakfast Tacos, Smoked Brisket Benedict, Sour Cream Blueberry Pancakes, or Chilaquiles Bowl with a side of cheddar grits or turkey bacon.
They also have a wide selection of teas and juices you can pair with any dish to enhance your morning, but my favorite is their Nopales Prickly Pear Smoothie.
