The appetizers are excellent; I enjoyed the chicken tinga quesadillas, the camarones with chipotle mayonnaise, and the ceviche las brisas. However, my favorite was the Tacos al Carbon with Wagyu Steak, salsa, and flour tortillas.
Fixe Southern House
Fixe Southern House serves traditional southern foods and has been highlighted in Fort Worth Magazine. Chef James Robert elevates traditional Southern dishes with modern twists. It’s an upscale restaurant with a lively, trendy, and quaint vibe. Fixe Southern House is on 5th St near Republic Square in downtown Austin (take bus 20). The restaurant offers three spaces for private dining. The Parlor Room seats twelve, the Small Boardroom seats eight, and the largest boardroom seats 24. The deviled eggs and pimento cheese are excellent appetizers. I also enjoyed the pork chop with braised collards. Their crawfish, red snapper, and pork shoulder are phenomenal, with the biscuits being celebrated by all who visit.
Moonshine Grill has served classic American comfort food in a relaxed setting for nearly twenty years. The restaurant has an upscale but relaxing southern feel and is open for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Moonshine Grill is located in the historic Waterloo Compound near the Austin Hilton Hotel on the corner of Red River and E 3rd (use bus 10). Hosting a private banquet with special menus and a cultivated wine list is fun and exciting at Moonshine Grill. I enjoyed the blackened catfish, the green chile macaroni, and the fried green tomatoes. The center-cut pork chop with peach chutney is a refined take on a childhood classic.
Chez Zee American Bistro

The restaurant can accommodate parties from six to 120. Meals start with popcorn and popovers with ricotta and honey. The king crab with avocado toast is delicious. I’d also recommend the Pekin Duck Breast au Poivre and seafood risotto.
Vespaio Ristorante opened in 1998, and Chef Ryan Samson creates delicious and creative Italian dishes. You’ll enjoy their welcoming romantic dinner atmosphere and friendly staff. The restaurant is in a Bohemian neighborhood on South Congress Ave. in Travis Heights (use bus 10). It’s not far from the South Congress hotel. The Capital Grille

The Cannon Room hosts 60, the Eberly Dining Room seats 100, while the rooftop seats up to 175. You’ll want to try the salmon poke or the beef tartare. I also enjoyed the Braised Short Rib and the New York Strip with chimichurri.
Emmer & Rye
Emmer & Rye is a hip warehouse-chic restaurant. They offer a local farm-to-table menu, cocktails, and wine. The staff will infuse your experience with their passion for the food they are excited to serve. Emmer & Rye is in the Rainey St. History District, not far from Waller Beach at Town Lake Metropolitan Park (take bus 322). Their semi-private dining, they can host up to 14. Their patio is also an option for seated dinners. You can even plan cooking demonstrations with Chef Kevin Fink. I like to get small plates to eat family style. Their dim sum cart is also extremely popular. I also recommend trying the dry-aged wagyu beef with confit onion or the oyster mushroom with green beans.
Juliet Italian Kitchen
Juliet Italian Kitchen serves modern and classic Italian food. The restaurant has an upscale, fun, and chill vibe. Juliet is in the heart of Austin’s beloved Zilker Park neighborhood. It’s on Barton Springs Rd., extremely close to the ZACH Theatre at Butler Park (take bus 30). Juliet can accommodate private parties of different sizes with the patio and outdoor bar, the main room, and the smaller, intimate dining room. The full restaurant can hold 300, the Calabria Room hosts 30, and the Cantania Room accommodates 40. Brunch and happy hour are extremely popular at Juliet. Make sure you try the calamari, spaghetti bolognese, fettuccine, or chicken piccata. Don’t forget to order an Aperol Spritz cocktail with your meal.
