If you’re looking for the best steak in Atlanta, Bones is the place to be. If you don’t want to take my word for it, the New York Times states that Bones has the best steak in the Southeast. Regardless of what steak you order, you won’t be disappointed. The chefs at Bones have mastered the perfect steak. Their dry-aged bone-in ribeye is one of the most popular dishes, for a good reason. It was hard to save room for dessert, but you can’t leave without a slice of cheesecake.
Next up on your tour of the best steakhouses in Atlanta is Marcel. Marcel has always been a place for people to gather, dine on classic dishes and classic cocktails. While they’ve been known for their classics, their steak is what makes them really stand out. Marcel’s been recognized by the Cooking Channel, Zagat National, and more for fantastic steak. Marcel is typically a French restaurant, but don’t let that deter you. Their filet madame is 8 oz of tenderness. If you’re dining with three or more people, their 42 oz porterhouse is the perfect cut. They have some of the best French onion soup I’ve ever had, and it’s the ideal starter for a delicious steak.
Chops Lobster Bar
If you head north of downtown towards Buckhead, Chops Lobster Bar is ready to serve you the streak of your dreams. Known very well by Atlanta locals, Chops ranks as one of the top steakhouses in America. They’re well known for their certified A5 Wagyu and Nova Scotia Lobster. The star of the show here is their genuine A5 Miyazaki Wagyu. You can order a 4, 6, or 8 oz filet, and every bite will be well worth it. My second favorite steak would be their genuine 1855 black Angus filet. If you’re dining with someone who isn’t thrilled about steak, you can’t go wrong with any of their lobster dishes.
Kevin Rathbun Steak
Kevin Rathbun opened his steakhouse in 2007, allowing visitors to experience the vision in his head for years fully. Looks can be deceiving when you first arrive. The exterior is very unassuming in the industrial area of Atlanta near the Martin Luther King Junior National Historical Park, but when you walk in, the high ceilings, modern decor, and cozy atmosphere welcome you with open arms. The menu has plenty of delicious dishes to choose from, but my top two picks for steak would be their dry-aged cowboy ribeye or a classic NY strip. If you’re anything like me and can’t go without a starter, you need to try the roasted bone marrow. Don’t forget to check out their extensive wine list.

Located in the ever-popular Buckhead, Hal’s “The Steakhouse” is the place for award-winning steak. Hal’s is the perfect combination of a traditional steakhouse with a New Orleans-inspired menu. One of the biggest reasons I love Hal’s is that it’s open for lunch and dinner, unlike other steakhouses. My personal favorite was their filet mignon au Poivre paired with Hal’s chopped salad.
New York Prime
New York Prime may have more than one location, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say this is a chain steakhouse. It’s one of the best you’ll find in Atlanta. This joint has been voted the best in Atlanta for 12 consecutive years. People come for the food, but they stay for the elegant atmosphere and live music. This steakhouse focuses on serving only the best quality USDA prime-only beef, seafood, and all your favorite steakhouse sides. All their steaks are aged for 28 days and have a charred exterior. Check them out in the Monarch Tower across from Phipps Plaza shopping mall.

You’ve probably heard of The Capital Grille before, but it’s still one of the best spots in Atlanta to grab a juicy steak. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with elegance. With the wood floors and accents, art deco lighting, and perfect dimmed mood lighting, it’s the perfect dinner spot. When I stopped in, I started my meal with the prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella because who doesn’t love meat and cheese. Their steak menu has something for everyone, but the chef’s suggestion of a bone-in Kona-crusted, dry-aged NY strip was a perfect choice. You can’t forget to check out their world-class wine list.
Little Alley Steak
Little Alley Steak is a favorite amongst the Atlanta community. So much so, they have two locations—one in Roswell and one in Buckhead. I can sit here and tell you all day how great this steakhouse is, but if you want to hear it from another source, Forbes claims Little Alley is one of the best 100 steakhouses in the nation. For those who love appetizers, they have a selection of charcuterie and oysters. They categorize their steaks by wet-aged, dry-aged, and USDA prime cuts. Regardless of which cut you choose, they offer four kinds of butter to choose from, and each one is as delicious as the last.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House
If you’ve spent any time in the South or just love a good steak, Ruth’s Chris Steak House shouldn’t be a new name. There are two locations in Atlanta, and it’s always packed. Despite being a popular Southern steakhouse, they only used the best custom-aged Midwestern beef, which gives it a corn-fed flavor. Their porterhouse for two is the perfect date night meal, especially when you pair it with something from their unique bourbon or wine selection. If you’re feeling like treating yourself, adding a lobster tail to any steak is the way to go.
C. Ellet’s Steakhouse is next to Truist Park and a great place to gather with friends and enjoy one of the best meals in Atlanta. They have a strong focus on seafood, shareable plates, and of course, sizzling steaks. They separate their steaks by bone-in and hand-cut. If your stomach is indeed as big as your eyes, their tomahawk ribeye should be more than enough to satisfy. If you’re like me and will be full before eating even a quarter of that steak, the 35 days dry-aged Kansas City strip is perfect.

This Brazilian steakhouse showcases a massive wine wall when you walk in, an elegant lounge, and their classic churrasqueira grill. The best part about this steakhouse is that you can enjoy a nice steak for dinner or sip mimosas while eating some of the best Brazilian steaks in the city for brunch. The Fogo churrasco experience offers you a selection of all their meats, steak included.
101 Steak is a chef-driven restaurant, so you know the food is going to be exceptional. The restaurant has over 100 wines by the glass, a raw bar, and so much more. Their patio boasts greenery and is the perfect place to enjoy your meal when the weather is nice. It’s a newer steakhouse, opened in 2016, but it’s been taking Atlanta by storm ever since. Their steak selection includes: Filet medallions, Filet mignon, Prime NY strip, Prime Delmonico, Bone-in ribeye, Prime KC strip, A prime porterhouse, Prime rib, and T bone steak. The porterhouse requires 24-hour notice.

Even though it’s difficult to go to a steakhouse and not order a steak, Morton’s is well known for its prime burger patty. If you give it a try, it’ll probably be one of the best burgers you’ve ever had.
Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill
Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill has gone through various name changes throughout the years, but it’s never changed its philosophy. They strive to serve the best steak, seafood, desserts, and wines. Stoney River has exceptional steaks, and one of the most unique recipes you’ll find in the city is their coffee-cured filet. But there’s plenty of other options for those who don’t like coffee. They top their steak salad with blue cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.
Parker’s on Ponce
Just four miles from downtown Atlanta is the first steakhouse to ever open in Decanter, Georgia. The owners are natives from Decanter and saw the need for a steakhouse in the area. They opened in 2008 and have been a staple in the community since. I can hardly imagine eating at a steak restaurant without a caesar salad. Even though it’s a classic choice, there’s nothing like the tangy Caesar salad to prepare you for your meal. They age all their wet and dry-aged steaks for a minimum of 21 days, so you know you’re getting the best flavor possible.
Arnette’s Chop Shop
Arnette’s Chop Shop is the perfect modern take on traditional steakhouses. The decor boasts more modern colors such as blacks and greys while resembling your favorite classic decor. When you first walk in, you’ll see their knife club member’s special knife pouches along the walls. Patrons tend to order their filets and ribeyes more than other cuts, but they do offer tomahawk, porterhouse, and other cuts if those are your cup of tea. Sides are the second best part of a steakhouse, and their twice-baked potato doesn’t disappoint.
Kaiser’s Chop House
Featured on Atlanta Eats TV, Kaiser’s Chop House is another modern take on the traditional steakhouse. The interior is enticing and can put a smile on your face just by walking in. If the weather is nice, their patio is the best place in the entire restaurant to enjoy a meal and a nice glass of wine.
