Located right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, the Citizen Public House is a contemporary take on an old idea.
This award-winning restaurant made waves when it opened in 2011, recognized by more than one prominent publication as the best new opening of the year. In downtown Scottsdale, that’s no small feat! And of course, the restaurant serves as host to Bernie Kantak, a nominee for the Best Chef in the Southwest.
Citizen Public House is an excellent location for any dinner event. The menu is bursting with variety and excitement, delicious flavor promised on every page with classic dishes like sea scallops, short ribs, and buttermilk chicken breast. You cannot go wrong with the Amaro Meatloaf, served with smashed potatoes and roasted zucchini. Add on the Original Chopped Salad for a healthy side, and don’t forget to try the Chocolate Pot de Crème for dessert!

This charming gastropub serving farm-to-table American fare sits in Scottsdale’s famous Craftsman Court with a reputation for creative cuisine and continuous innovation.
Chef Charleen Badman and Front of House Manager/Beverage Director Pavle Milic co-own the restaurant. They utilize their combined expertise to create an outstanding environment where you can enjoy a rotating wine list, seasonal specials, and special events every Sunday.
FnB is a classic location for private events. The restaurant features the best of what local Arizona farms have to offer, known for specially curating seasonal menus to fit the changing availability. My favorite feature, however, is the impressive wine list that showcases Arizona-produced wines. Local businesses supporting local businesses have never looked this good.

North of Goldwater Boulevard and south of East 2nd Street, the VIRTU Honest Craft was rated in Esquire’s list of Best New Restaurants in America.
Since its debut in 2013, the restaurant is the dreamchild of Phoenix’s favorite, Chef Gio Osso. With his restaurant, Chef Osso has complete creative control of this intimate, inspired, Mediterranean-style meeting spot. Hosting an event here ensures the personal attention of the man who started it all.
VIRTU Honest Craft is famous for its outstanding combination of seasonal produce from local farmers, seafood imported from the best markets in North America, and a handmade pasta selection that lasts for days. The three-course menu includes delicious pairings curated by the chef himself. Whatever you do, don’t forget to add the cheese course before dessert!

This award-winning restaurant is one of the fine gems of Scottsdale’s selection. I love getting dressed up in my best formal wear for a night out at Café Monarch. There is no shortage of unique flavor profiles, each course deliciously precise. For all my fellow pomegranate fans, their Autumn Soup is superb.

Serving only the freshest fish from southern California, Chula Seafood is the pride and joy of south Scottsdale.
Returning customers boast that there’s no better place to get a delicious poke bowl. The salmon sashimi is a common favorite, offering an abundance of quality salmon and delicious pairings. Specials change every day; I highly recommend visiting on a Saturday and experiencing the Butter Poached Lobster Roll.

Located right on North Scottsdale Road, Hush Public House is the perfect destination for a fancy date or a family event. You’ll enjoy an entire culinary experience with a comfortable atmosphere that feels classy and fun.
This lively, trendy menu includes a fine selection of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. Opened by Dom Ruggiero and Charles Barber in early 2019, Hush Public House is a rare dining experience that I cannot recommend enough.
The menu is filled with unique pairings of vegetables and protein, including a seafood selection guaranteed to satisfy. The Fig Toast with whipped ricotta is the surprising underdog on this menu, and the Duck Fried Rice with homemade Rayu oil is an outstanding dish that you can’t get anywhere else.

Scottsdale’s premier Italian grocer seats on a first-come, first-serve basis, so arrive early for your dinner party. This is the authentic Italian experience that you’ve been craving. Located in North Scottsdale, just past the Talking Stick Resort, Andreoli’s is the perfect place to enjoy a night out with the family.
Chef Giovanni is the master of Italian cuisine and notoriously quick wit. Unapologetically a fan of all that Andreoli’s has to offer, he would compel each visitor to enjoy what he calls the best food in the world. I haven’t eaten Italian cuisine all over the world, but I know for a fact that the Abbuffino sandwich on focaccia with calabrese salami and smoked mozzarella is quite possibly from heaven itself.

There is no better place to enjoy traditional Latin cuisine, complete with a unique selection of tapas and over 500 wines and cocktails to choose from. The Talavera is a true Spanish experience, where weddings and galas alike can be hosted in authentic style.
When I go to a steakhouse, I expect to find excellent steak. Seafood is likely an option as well, possibly chicken, but steak is the prime purpose for my visit. The menu items at Talavera are certainly all exquisite, but nothing quite compares to the 20-ounce bone-in Prime Ribeye. You haven’t truly lived until you experience what Talavera has to offer.
